Did you ever feel like creating a microlecture, but are you not sure where to start? Or have you already created multiple microlectures, but want to see where you can improve even more? Within this course you will be able to discover the different aspects of using videos in education: from preparing material, to producing the content and placing it within your own education.
☵ Course structure
The course is structured modularly, consisting of three main modules. These modules are preparation, production and placement. For this course, you are allowed to prepare autonomously and participate in either the entire course or just specifically partake in modules. This allows you to tailor this course to your specific needs and prior knowledge if you already have experience with microlectures. If you have never made a microlecture before, we recommend you follow all modules consecutively.
Please consult the trainers of the course beforehand if you want to tailor the schedule to your needs. You can also refer to the intended learning outcomes if you are in doubt on whether a module suits you.
Preparation
In the preparation module, you will go through everything you'll need to prepare your microlecture. You'll first decide on your subject, after which you'll decide which facilities you want to use. Following this, you'll work on your script and visuals, after which you'll receive feedback on them.
Production
In the production module, the actual creation of your microlecture is the main subject. You'll go over what posture and body language you'll need to pay attention to when recording your microlecture. You will also visit the studio's that are available at the UT to get familiar with them. At the end of this module, you'll record your Microlecture.
Placement
In the placement module, you will learn more about using your microlecture in education. You will go over how to do some editting in your microlecture if you'll need it. Following this, you'll learn about uploading your microlecture to the Video Portal of the University, after which we'll go through placing your microlecture on Canvas. Closing off, you'll learn about making your video more engaging by adding interactivity.
